Year 7 students have been promoting staying safe online in conjunction with Safer Internet Day 2016. This term, students have been looking at social media literacy in their Well-being lessons culminating in their ‘social without media’ lesson at the end of term. For this, students created paper versions of internet profiles after discussing what online profiles should and should not contain; they stuck these around the classroom and then had to move around to comment on other students’ profiles.
Students reflected at the end of the lesson on how the experience felt:
“It felt amazing to read the comments back” - Leah
“It felt interesting to comment on the identity maps because I found that people like the same or similar things” - Lyric
“Sharing my identity map was actually calming for me” - Brandon
