As part of the geography curriculum, Year 7 geographers looked at the micro climate of the Wellington Academy. In order to understand the concept, they made their own weather instruments to measure wind speed, wind direction, cloud cover, rainfall and lastly temperature. We picked three different sites around the Academy to see if there was a micro climate. Unfortunately or fortunately, depending which way you look at it, Storm Gertrude decided to appear that day. Therefore we go some very strong wind readings and some students handmade instruments survived! Year 7 is now analyzing and evaluating the data in order to make valid conclusions. A special well done to Lee Lewis who made an electrical anemometer which was linked to a volt meter.
