On Friday 15th April, fifteen students from Year 7 & 8 were selected to take part in the Sky Sports Living for Sport Project with this year’s Sport Mentor Jamie Barrow. Jamie is currently Britain's fastest snowboarder and has overcome serious injury to achieve some amazing speed records on a snowboard. Jamie spoke to our students about the 6 keys to success - Mental Toughness, People Skills, Hunger to Achieve, Sport and Life Knowledge, Breaking Barriers and Planning for Success and how they can not only relate these to sport but also life. They took part in team building activities in the afternoon working with people they didn't know and did a fantastic job. They will now be working as a group during Term 5, working towards running an activity afternoon with a local Primary School to develop their confidence and hopefully inspire others to enjoy sport.
