Year 7/8 Halloween Disco

The newly created Wellington Academy PTA organised their first event of a Halloween disco for our Year 7 & 8 students. With a team of more than eight PTA volunteers, together with our fabulous Year 11 Prom Committee members, we welcomed 122 students dressed to thrill and not spill! Students had the chance to show off their dancing skills whilst dressed in some fabulous costumes, with prizes for 'Best Male Dancer' going to Ashan Byron with 'Best Female Dancer' going to Chloe Bannister. Best Costumes went to Deryn Lynn-Smith who won 1st Prize, Jess Page and Harry Brohan joint 2nd place with Harry Oliver winning 3rd place. Students had the chance to join in with Miss Norrish's high octane sequence dancing to up-beat music provided by local, DJ Connor Bullis. The event was a great success which raised over £370, with one attendee saying: "I never realised the Wicked Witch was Miss Norrish, I've only ever seen her in PE Kit"! This was a great way to celebrate the end of half term whilst raising funds for events such as the Year 11 Prom next July. Thank you to all those who offered their time to ensure that this event was a huge success.
